The 2015 installment of the Samsung Ativ Book 9 series looks a lot – in several respects – like the 12-inch Apple MacBook , even though it was first unveiled couple of months before the latter was released. The highly portable laptop boasts premium features and an attractively svelte profile.
     

Build and Display

The Samsung Ativ Book 9 (2015) will certainly impress almost every one as a very gorgeous and highly elegant ultrabook, much like the rival MacBook. It is well built and sturdy, while flaunting a unibody aluminium design and attractive midnight blue finish.

The premium laptop is ultra thin at a thickness of just about 1.17 cm and equally very light at a weight of just less than 1 kg. Samsung Ativ Book 9 (2015) sports an impressive 12.2-inch LED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels.

The resolution of the non-touch screen with a regular 16:9 aspect ratio compares very well against the similar-sized MacBook. There is also a 13.3-inch touch display option with 3200x1800-pixel resolution.

Performance and Operating System

Similar to the Macbook from Apple, the Samsung Ativ Book 9 (2015) is equipped with Intel's Broadwell Core M processor specially designed for very portable devices, but the 13.3-inch variant comes with an Intel Core i5 chip.

The Core M processor, which is known for its power use efficiency, is backed by 4GB of RAM. A higher model will reportedly have 8GB RAM. The ultraportable laptop runs on Windows 8.1 (64-bit) operating system.

Other Features and Specs

The Samsung Ativ Book 9 (2015) is fitted with a 128GB solid-state drive, with option of a 256GB SSD on a more expensive model. Unlike the 12-inch MacBook, this laptop does more in terms of available ports and interfaces.

Samsung still managed to squeeze in two USB 3.0 ports, a micro HDMI port, a card reader and a 3.5mm audio jack. It features Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11ac.

Samsung Ativ Book 9 (2015) also boasts interesting security and privacy options. For example, you can use a special drawn path on the trackpad to prevent unauthorized access. You can also use a function key to activate a privacy mode to dim the display and keep prying eyes away.
